Drain & sewer care

Drain Cleaning and Sewer Line Care for Lasting Flow

Slow basins, backed-up floor traps, gurgling and drain odours are fixed in two steps: clear the blockage, then correct whatever keeps causing it — the fall, the venting, a sagging joint or a damaged section.

Fast symptom check

Why drains block

Six common causes — and why clearing alone is not enough

If a drain blocks repeatedly, the blockage is a symptom. We tell you which of these is behind yours, so the fix lasts.

Grease & food waste

Fats harden inside kitchen drains and trap food particles, narrowing the pipe a little more every day.

Hair & soap scum

Bathroom basins and shower traps collect hair bound together by soap residue.

Wrong fall

Drains laid too flat let solids settle; too steep and water outruns waste, leaving it behind.

Poor venting

Without proper air, traps siphon dry and water drains slowly with a gurgle.

Displaced or sagging joints

A dropped joint forms a lip or dip where debris catches and builds up.

Foreign objects

Wipes, sanitary items and small objects lodge at bends and junctions.

Our method

Clear, inspect, correct, test

Stage 1

Locate

We check which fixtures are affected to tell a local blockage from a main-line problem.

Stage 2

Clear

Traps are cleaned and lines are rodded or jetted, depending on the pipe and the blockage.

Stage 3

Inspect

Problem runs are inspected, by camera where accessible, to see the pipe condition and fall.

Stage 4

Correct

We fix the cause — reset a joint, adjust a fall, add access or improve venting.

Stage 5

Flow-test

Water is run through every affected fixture to confirm free, quiet drainage.

Prevention

Keep drains flowing between visits

Most blockages are preventable. A few habits, plus an occasional check, keep both kitchen and bathroom drains running freely.

Scrape plates into the bin, wipe greasy pans with paper before washing and use a sink strainer. Never pour cooking oil down the drain — let it cool and dispose of it with solid waste.

Fit hair catchers on shower and basin drains and clean them weekly. Run hot water for a minute after use to keep soap residue moving.

Pour a bucket of water into rarely used floor traps every couple of weeks to keep the water seal from drying out and letting odours through.

Flush only toilet paper. Wipes — including those labelled flushable — and sanitary products are among the most common causes of main-line blockages.

We advise against regular use. Harsh chemicals can damage older pipes and seals and rarely remove the full blockage. Mechanical cleaning is safer and more effective.
